we think it is very important to give back to the community so we do what we can to help out the non-profits in the area. a couple of months ago we gave several gift certificates to the ARISE auction sponsored by UCHRA and Lakeside Resort. this auction raised money for UCHRA's Residential Centers. for more information about the residential centers and on how you can help visit http://www.uchra.com/residential.html.

we had the pleasure of working with on of our certificate winners, Mr. Nathaniel. he had just turned 1 a few weeks before the session and was starting to walk. we decided to take him downtown and let him play. it was such a great experience to watch him stand up on his own and walk around. thanks to nathaniel and his mom!

kinsey is a senior this year and was all smiles in this shoot. these sessions are so great because it is such a milestone as you look in the future and reminisce about the past. her outfits went perfct with the downtown vibe. i even got her to kiss a cute little fish , and she liked it! SHHH .... dont tell anyone!!!!

if you are looking for a simple couple, well these two are not it! lol. I (krys) have spent most of my teenage and young adult life with kelli. she helped me with our wedding and has always been my creative, painting, DIY, glam girl! i am so excited for her to get married this september on the beach. i wish we could be there for this one! kelli loves the GATORS and chuck has a strong passion for UT. Even though this house is divided they found a way to make it work people!

hey everyone, i wanted to take a few minutes to talk about The RUSSELL family: amy, greg, tyler and kale. the first moment they stepped out of their car sporting their VB colors I was interested. we always hope for the best with family sessions and try to push the envelope as much as possible. i mean this is what makes your family you. love this family and love that they look great in yellow! But, i was not a fan of all the bugs Kale found and wanted to show me .. EKKKKK..... BOYS WILL BE BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

meet holden. HE IS SO CUTE!!! a nine month old that is full of bright smiles and warm hugs!!! I have never been around such a cool kid. I mean did you see that he has a very large graffie named ELVIS and he loves the COLTS just like his DADDY. I am always amazed how our clients let us in to their personal spaces and we feel so lucky to capture all the great moments that make up this family.

family sessions are quickly becoming our new favorite thing. today we wanted to share with you the campbell family. i (colby) have known this family since i can remember, which is part of the reason we had so much fun with this shoot. it is great to work with people that you have known for years because it makes everyone more easy around the camera.

we had one of the best locations for this family. a huge, pink victorian house with a equally huge backyard. it was the perfect backdrop for this family.

a little something new

hey everyone! we have been very bad lately because we can't seem to find the time to keep all of you updated on what's happening. give us a smack on the wrist, we promise to do better. since we have finally finished painting our house and rearranging furniture (pictures to come), we have some time to sit down and write.

we have a couple of new things going on....

krystyna just started a new project following her fashion dreams. if you haven't had a chance look up hello, honey! on facebook. it is a great little business selling bridal sashes and accessories. She is working on getting a blog started as while as a shop on etsy so be sure to follow her on facebook!

while on the subject of etsy, i am starting an etsy shop myself. krystyna is always harping on me that no one gets to see any of my nature and travel photography, so i decided i would get it on etsy. check it out!

it seems that we are getting busier and busier all the time since we started these other projects, but we are loving every second of it! we have some great shoots to share in the next few days.

krystyna: rock the dress

if anyone knows my wife and i, they know that she gets to play model for my class projects a lot more than she likes, but this time it was all her idea to be in front of the camera. i must say we always have so much fun working together on wedding and all our other shoots, but it's great when one of us gets to be the subject. for this session, we waited a month or so for a perfect cloudy day and when it finally arrived we ran home grabbed the dress and found an empty field near sunset. enjoy!

fall mini sessions

we are excited to be doing mini sessions for the first time ever!

love everything fall and vintage? us too! This mini session is perfect for anyone looking for something a little more fun than your traditional pics. these sessions are great for families, children, couples, individuals, anyone and everyone!

how does a mini session differ from a full session?

our regular creative sessions usually last an hour to two hours in length and at the location of your choice. mini sessions are conducted at a specific location and are thirty minutes in length.

what is the cost of a mini session?

the cost is $75 and will be due at the time of your scheduled session.

what does it mean to get a master disk?

a master disk is a cd of all edited images from the session. with that cd you are given a printing release so that you can print the images at any photo lab.

how do i sign up for a mini session?

what if it rains or the weather is bad on the day of our mini session?

in case of inclement weather, mini sessions will be rescheduled at a future date and time. we will keep everyone updated on weather conditions on the day of the session.

can i get a map to the mini session?

we will email you the address of the location. we include the information in a private email to disclose the location to participants only.

are the locations the same for both days?

on september 3rd we will be shooting in Spencer, Tennessee and on september 4th we will be in Sparta, Tennessee.

when will i receive my pictures/cd?

please allow up to 2 weeks for editing. your pictures will then be mailed to you to the address provided on an information slip filled out at the time of your mini session.

what to wear?

Select clothing that’s poppy, vibrant and fun! Choose colors that are deep, rich and intense! Use patterns, textures and layers to add visual interest. Textured fabrics, such as denim, cable knits, linen, and corduroy, photograph beautifully. Layers can be added and removed to create different looks in minimal time. When it comes to jeans, opt for the darkest indigo wash. These tend to be the most flattering and least dated. This is a vintage inspired session so anything vintage-looking or with a vintage flare would work. Think ties, jeans, cute hats, button up shirts for boys. For girls, think whispy dresses or jeans and a cute shirt, maybe she wants to rock a tie too! Most importantly, we want everyone to be casual and comfortable in their attire.

when to arrive?

on-time of course! please don't be late because that will put us behind schedule. please plan to arrive a few minutes early.

Greetings! So how busy are we! The wedding is over and we are in full gear of wedding season! Meet this lovely couple, Becky Ann Tucker and he hubby to be Tyler.

Becky is a stunning lady, when the cameras get turned on well so does her sassy vogue qualities. Tyler is a good ol’ countryman at heart. He has these eyes that you just get lost in.

They are to be wed in June what a great way to kick off the summer. I am so excited for this pair. We had the best time shooting them on that windy, bright day.

wedding season is officially in full swing. we are excited to share this little rustic wedding with you. we met chelsey and brandon through one of our other brides. they had lost their photographer and were in need of one in the next couple of days. luckily, we were available to help her out. at a little church in baxter, tn, we entered a chapel just cheery as the bride herself. full of sunflowers and everything red, white and blue this place was perfect for a southern, military wedding. we had such a fun day with this couple and wish them the best.

Hello! So this is the cutest ever right!!! Logan is his name and Spiderman is his game. The camera loves Logan and he has such a sweet face. Bet you could not tell it was so cold this day. We have so much fun. And no guys I did not make that cookie. Colby looks better in the kitchen and I wear the aprons. The house is just safer this way.

What a little girl. Emma is so sweet but she knows what is going on. Sometimes you just get a little curious as a child and we don’t get a chance to shoot many little ones but Emma was such a joy. Colby ran all over the place just to get her to laugh and smile. He would chase her and then she would be chasing him lol.

O yeah! Did you see the monkey that’s George yes! He gets put in timeout and she spanks he’s tail if he misbehaves, per Emma’s rules lol. Check back to see if George gets potty trained next week lol come on I know you are just a bit curious!!!!!!!!!

Notice anything different? We figured you might! After getting married and beginning to settle into our new life together, we decided that our website was looking a little tired + boring and might want a new life of its own. So, welcome to the new colbywheelerphotography.com.

Now when you enter our site you have the option to visit either our blog or website. The website needed to be more of a reflection of the two of us and our personalities. We did this by making everything a little cleaner and easier to find.

In the navigation bar, we have made it easier to quickly find photos, as well as, locate all the info you might need to know about us and what we do! We also gave a little makeover to the blog. It will now have more pictures because we know that everyone wants to see pictures, and Krystyna and I will both be writing the posts. So, not only will you get to see our photography, but we will also have fun posts about what inspires us for shoots, a little look inside our personal lives, and more. Today's wedding is from July for the awesome couple Lacy and Eric. I can't even begin to describe this wedding. The venue was a Spanish style Mansion that overlooked the Tennessee River on a mostly sunny day with little sprinkles of rain. The Perfect setting for a wedding! There was a sense of Rock and Roll because of the Bride and Groom’s background in music. The day was perfect for a really awesome couple. Can't wait to work with them again!
